Sherman Oaks mixes mid-century ranch homes in the flats, hillside houses climbing toward Mulholland Drive, condo and apartment buildings, and the offices and shops along Ventura Boulevard. Each of those needs a different kind of low-voltage work, and we scope them differently.
We design and install UniFi networks, UniFi Protect cameras, UniFi Access door control and structured cabling, and we service other systems too. Work is priced by scope, hardware is bought direct from Ubiquiti at no markup, and you own the finished system with no monthly fees.
Sherman Oaks and Van Nuys, street by street
Ventura Boulevard is the main street of Sherman Oaks. Restaurants, salons, medical offices and small professional suites line it, and most of those buildings have a parking lot or an alley behind them. The rear door is usually the first place we point a camera.
North of Ventura, the flats are mostly houses on regular lots, with apartment and condo buildings along the busier cross streets such as Woodman Avenue and Van Nuys Boulevard. South of it, streets like Dixie Canyon Avenue and Valley Vista Boulevard run up into the hills below Mulholland Drive, and a house there can have the garage at street level and the living space a full flight up.
Van Nuys is a different mix. You find small industrial buildings, shops, apartment buildings and businesses around Van Nuys Airport. A typical job there is a rack in a back room, Wi-Fi across an open floor, and cameras on the roll-up door and the lot.
What we plan for in Sherman Oaks
Mid-century homes in the flats
Many Valley ranch homes were built long before anyone ran network cable, and their single-story attics are the easiest path for new runs. They are also very hot in summer, so we plan where equipment sits and keep switches and recorders in a cooler closet or garage instead of the attic.
Hillside houses
Homes on the slopes above Ventura Boulevard often stack three levels on a narrow lot. Wi-Fi from one access point rarely reaches every floor, and detached garages and decks need their own coverage. We put access points on each level and cable them back to one rack.
Offices and shops along Ventura Boulevard
Small businesses along the corridor usually need a clean network closet, cameras on the entrance and back door, a door reader for staff, and Wi-Fi that keeps guests off the work network. We install it in one visit where the scope allows and label every run.
Condos and apartments
Multi-unit buildings come with rules about common walls, ceilings and building management. We work out the cable path first, often with surface raceway, so the system is neat and does not depend on opening finished walls.
Typical UniFi jobs in Sherman Oaks
A suite or storefront on Ventura Boulevard
A UniFi gateway, a switch and two or three access points, with one camera on the front door and one on the rear door or lot. Everything runs back to a small wall rack: CAT6A to the desks and access points, CAT6 to the cameras.
A hillside house off Dixie Canyon or Valley Vista
One access point on each level, plus a camera that watches the stairs and the carport. We usually route the cable through the garage ceiling or a closet so the rack can sit low in the house, away from the attic heat.
A shop or small warehouse in Van Nuys
A UniFi Access reader on the staff door, cameras on the loading door and the yard, and an access point mounted high so the signal covers the whole floor.
Services we offer in Sherman Oaks
UniFi is our main focus. We also service other systems already in place.
Security cameras
UniFi Protect cameras that record to a recorder you own. Driveway, side yard and rear coverage for homes, and entrances and loading doors for businesses.
Wi-Fi installation
UniFi Wi-Fi placed floor by floor so the garage, guest room and patio get signal, not just the living room.
Structured cabling
New runs use CAT6 for cameras and CAT6A for access points and data drops, terminated and labeled back to a patch panel.
Access control
Keypads, readers, intercoms and gate hubs for front doors, entries and offices on one UniFi Access system. Gate hubs connect to your existing gate operator.
Wi-Fi site survey
Home and Estate surveys with Ekahau when current Wi-Fi drops calls or you want a plan before you buy equipment.

Often, yes. We look at what is in the walls and the rack first, then tell you what can stay and what is worth replacing.
Call or send the contact form with how many people and doors are involved. We will schedule a walkthrough and send an itemized estimate, and Sight can give you a ballpark for equipment and installation before that.
Yes. Van Nuys is part of our San Fernando Valley service area. The work is often a shop or small warehouse: a rack, access points mounted high, cameras on the doors and yard, and a reader on the staff entrance.
