Pasadena, South Pasadena and La Canada Flintridge have a lot of homes that predate modern networking by decades. Craftsman and period-style houses often have plaster walls, solid wood trim, and attics and crawlspaces that are hard to reach. Older commercial buildings come with their own limits.
Doing that work well means slowing down. We inspect the pathways before we promise anything, choose routes that protect the trim and finishes, and put the devices where they work without looking out of place.
Pasadena, South Pasadena and La Canada Flintridge
Old Pasadena, around Colorado Boulevard and Fair Oaks Avenue, is full of brick commercial buildings. Brick and masonry are hard to drill cleanly, so we look for existing conduit and ceiling paths first, and where we have to drill, we go into the mortar lines rather than the brick face.
Northeast Pasadena includes Bungalow Heaven, a landmark district of Craftsman bungalows. Landmark districts can have design rules for exterior changes, so check with the city before anything is mounted on the front of a house. South Pasadena has early 20th century houses on hilly streets near the Arroyo Seco, with shops along Mission Street and Fair Oaks Avenue.
La Canada Flintridge sits at the foot of the San Gabriel Mountains, along Foothill Boulevard, near where the Angeles Crest Highway starts. Lots are larger, many have long driveways and detached garages, and the foothill setting is a reason to think about backup power for the rack and cameras.
What we plan for in Pasadena
Plaster and wood trim
Cutting into old plaster or historic trim is a last resort. We look for routes through closets, basements, attics and exterior soffits first, and where a surface run is the only option we use raceway that can be painted to match.
Limited attic and crawlspace access
Low attics and tight crawlspaces limit where cable can be pulled safely. We tell you early which rooms are easy to reach and which are not, so the estimate does not change midway.
Detached garages and guest houses
Foothill lots frequently have a detached garage, studio or guest unit. We connect these by buried conduit, or by fiber if the run is long, and give each its own access point.
Small offices and shops
Old Pasadena and the neighborhoods around it have many small businesses in older buildings. We set up a network rack, cameras at the doors and a reader on the staff entrance, working with the landlord on cable paths.
Typical UniFi jobs in Pasadena
A Craftsman bungalow
Access points in hallway ceilings so the signal does not have to cross plaster, CAT6A through the attic or crawlspace, and paintable raceway only where there is no other route.
A brick building in Old Pasadena
A rack in the back of the shop or the building closet, a camera on the rear door, a reader on the staff entrance, and an access point mounted to the ceiling or an existing beam.
A foothill house in La Canada Flintridge
A camera on the driveway approach, a wired link to the detached garage or guest unit, and outdoor coverage for the yard.

Only if there is no better option, and only after we discuss it with you. We try existing paths first, and use paintable raceway when needed.
Low-voltage cable runs separately from electrical wiring. We still avoid areas with unsafe or unclear conditions, and we tell you if an electrician is needed first.
Yes. We serve La Canada Flintridge, South Pasadena and Pasadena, and you can request an estimate.
Some do. Landmark districts such as Bungalow Heaven can have design rules for exterior changes, so check with the city first. We can often keep devices on the side and rear of a house, or inside, to stay out of the view from the street.
