UniFi Installer in Santa Monica and the Westside

Coastal air, tight lots and offices in converted buildings: the Westside asks for weather-ready gear and careful cabling.

Low voltage in Santa Monica and the Westside

The Westside runs from Brentwood and Westwood through Santa Monica, Venice and Marina del Rey, with Culver City and Pacific Palisades on either side. You get large homes, townhomes, condos, apartment buildings and a good number of offices and creative spaces.

Two things shape most jobs here. One is the coastal climate: damp, salty air is hard on outdoor equipment, so we choose weather-rated hardware and seal outdoor connections. The other is building type: with townhomes and condos you often have limited ceiling access, so cable paths need planning.

On the ground

Santa Monica, Venice, Culver City and the rest of the Westside

Santa Monica mixes beachside apartments and condos, mid-rise offices downtown near the Third Street Promenade, and single-family streets north of Wilshire Boulevard and around Montana Avenue. Venice has small bungalows next to newer houses on narrow lots, and the Venice Canals have homes packed along the water. Abbot Kinney Boulevard is full of shops and creative offices.

Marina del Rey is mostly apartments and condos around the marina, along Admiralty Way and Via Marina. Westwood has the UCLA campus and the condo buildings along Wilshire Boulevard. Culver City has Sony Pictures Studios, the Hayden Tract, where older industrial buildings have become offices, and the Helms Bakery District.

Brentwood and Pacific Palisades add hillside houses, including the Mandeville Canyon area. If you are rebuilding in the Palisades, the point before drywall goes up is the easiest time to plan network cable.

01 / WHAT PROPERTIES HERE NEED

What we plan for in Santa Monica and the Westside

01

Salt air and outdoor equipment

Anything mounted outside near the coast sees moisture and salt. We use outdoor rated cameras and access points, weatherproof connectors and sealed junctions, and keep sensitive equipment inside a dry closet or cabinet.

02

Townhomes and condos

Shared walls and concrete floors limit where cable can go. We usually plan around existing closets, utility chases and surface raceway, and coordinate with building management when common areas are involved.

03

Offices in older and mixed-use buildings

Creative and professional offices in converted buildings often have exposed ceilings and no network closet. We create a tidy rack location, label every run and set up secure staff Wi-Fi and a separate guest network.

04

Canyon and hillside homes

Brentwood and the Palisades include hillside streets. Terrain and multiple levels call for multi-point Wi-Fi and cameras that cover steps and driveways, as in other hillside neighborhoods we serve.

02 / TYPICAL JOBS

Typical UniFi jobs in Santa Monica and the Westside

01

A roof deck or balcony in Venice or Santa Monica

An outdoor access point and a camera rated for weather, with sealed connections and the cable routed through a protected path, because the coastal air is hard on anything exposed.

02

A creative office in a converted Culver City building

Access points on conduit mounts under exposed ceilings, a clean rack in whatever closet works, cameras on the entrances, and a reader on the front door.

03

A hillside house in Mandeville Canyon or the Palisades

An access point on each level, cameras on the steps and driveway, and a rack in a cool closet or garage.

FAQ
Does salt air damage outdoor cameras?

It can shorten the life of unprotected hardware. We select outdoor rated equipment and seal connections, but no outdoor device is immune, so we tell you what to expect.

I rent an office in Culver City. Can you install a network?

Yes, with your landlord's approval where the building requires it. We set up the rack, Wi-Fi, door access and cameras and leave you with documentation.

Do you work in Venice and Marina del Rey?

Yes. We serve those areas along with Santa Monica, Brentwood, Westwood, the Palisades and Culver City.

We are rebuilding in the Palisades. When should network cable go in?

Before the walls are closed. We can give your builder a pre-wire plan with cable counts and device locations: CAT6A for access points and data drops, CAT6 for cameras. We install the devices after the finishes are done.
