UniFi, Cameras and Cabling in the Conejo Valley

Tract homes, oak-covered hillsides and office parks along the 101: the Conejo Valley is big houses on big lots, and it runs hot.

Gbit Tech UniFi installation
Low voltage in Thousand Oaks and Conejo Valley

The Conejo Valley sits just west of the San Fernando Valley and includes Thousand Oaks, Newbury Park, Westlake Village and Agoura Hills. Most of the buildings are single-family houses from the 1960s to today, with offices and shops spread along the Ventura Freeway.

It is a drive up the 101 from our Sherman Oaks base, so we plan each visit to cover the whole property at once: network, cameras, doors and cabling. You own the finished UniFi system. There are no monthly fees, and the Ubiquiti hardware is bought direct with no markup.

On the ground

Thousand Oaks, Newbury Park, Westlake Village and Agoura Hills

Thousand Oaks Boulevard runs through the middle of the city, with shops, restaurants and small offices along it. The Oaks mall is off Hillcrest Drive, and most of the streets around it are two-story tract homes with attached garages.

Newbury Park is at the west end of the valley. Wendy Drive and Newbury Road carry most of the traffic, Dos Vientos has newer hillside houses on steep lots, and Hidden Valley to the north has horse properties on large parcels.

Westlake Village is built around Westlake Lake and Westlake Boulevard, with gated neighborhoods and a row of offices along Agoura Road and Townsgate Road. Agoura Hills is next door toward Los Angeles, with business parks off Kanan Road and older ranch properties in Old Agoura.

01 / WHAT PROPERTIES HERE NEED

What we plan for in Thousand Oaks and Conejo Valley

01

Tract homes on concrete slabs

Many Conejo Valley houses sit on concrete slabs, so there is no crawl space to drop cable through. It goes across the attic and down inside interior walls instead. We pick those paths before we quote, so there are few surprises behind finished drywall.

02

Hillside and estate lots

Hidden Valley, Lake Sherwood and the hills above Westlake Village have long driveways, pool houses and detached guest quarters. Reaching them takes buried conduit or a wireless bridge, and each outbuilding gets its own switch and access point.

03

Heat, dust and Santa Ana wind

Summer attics here can pass 120 degrees, and fall winds blow dust and debris around. We keep switches and recorders in a garage or closet, not the attic, and we choose outdoor gear rated for sun and dust.

04

Offices along Agoura Road and the 101

Medical, legal, biotech and software offices fill the business parks in Westlake Village, Agoura Hills and Thousand Oaks. They usually want a rack, a guest network, door readers and entrance cameras, all arranged with the building manager.

02 / TYPICAL JOBS

Typical UniFi jobs in Thousand Oaks and Conejo Valley

01

A two-story tract house in Thousand Oaks

An access point on each floor, a camera on the front door and another over the back yard, and a small rack in the garage. The runs go through the attic: CAT6A to the access points and CAT6 to the cameras.

02

A horse property in Newbury Park or Hidden Valley

Cameras on the driveway and the barn, plus an outdoor access point so the arena has signal. The barn gets power and a network run from the main house, or a wireless bridge if the distance is long.

03

A medical or software office in Westlake Village

A UniFi gateway, a switch and ceiling access points, a reader on the suite door and a camera at reception. Guests get their own Wi-Fi network, separate from staff.

03 / SERVICES

Services we offer in Thousand Oaks and Conejo Valley

UniFi is our main focus. We also service other systems already in place.

01

Security cameras

Driveway, pool, side yard and back yard coverage on larger lots, recorded to a UniFi recorder you own.

02

Wi-Fi installation

Access points placed by floor and by outbuilding, so the guest house, garage and patio get signal.

03

Structured cabling

Attic and in-wall runs for slab houses, CAT6A to access points and data drops, CAT6 to cameras, labeled at a patch panel.

04

Access control

Readers on the front door, the office suite and the pool house, plus gate hubs that connect to your existing gate operator.

05

Starlink installation

A backup connection for a home or office, or a main one where the wired options are limited.

FAQ
Do you work in Thousand Oaks and Westlake Village?

Yes. We cover the whole Conejo Valley, including Newbury Park and Agoura Hills, as part of serving all of LA Metro. Request an estimate and tell us the part of town.

Our house is on a slab. Can you still add network cable?

Yes. Cable goes up through interior walls and across the attic, and we use closets and garage walls where we can. We look at the attic and the wall layout at the walkthrough before we price it.

Can you cover a guest house or barn far from the main house?

Usually. A buried conduit with cable or a point-to-point wireless link both work, depending on distance and terrain. Horse properties in Hidden Valley and Newbury Park often have a barn or arena that needs power and a network connection.

Do you take jobs in the business parks on Agoura Road?

Yes. A suite usually needs a rack, access points, staff door readers and a camera at the entrance. Many parks have their own rules, so we ask the property manager about cable paths and work hours first.
