UniFi Fabrics: Managing Multiple Sites from One Dashboard

UniFi Network / WiFi3 min read

Running networks at several locations in Los Angeles gets complicated fast. As a UniFi installer and low-voltage contractor serving Beverly Hills, Santa Monica and the San Fernando Valley, we see it with every additional location. Ubiquiti’s UniFi Fabrics feature, introduced in early access in January 2026 and made official in April 2026, is aimed at that problem: multi-site control without recurring fees. This post explains what UniFi Fabrics is and who it is for.

What UniFi Fabrics is

UniFi Fabrics is a hybrid cloud control plane built into the UniFi Site Manager platform. It lets you manage multiple UniFi sites from a single dashboard, with no license fee.

  • Hybrid design: The control plane is hosted in the cloud, and the data plane stays on the devices at each site.
  • Zero Trust security model for communication between sites and devices.
  • One dashboard for your UniFi networks, with one login for your UniFi consoles.
  • Policy sync: Apply the same network and security policies across all sites.
  • No subscription fees.

It suits multi-location businesses, property managers and homeowners with several properties or a large estate.

Why it matters in LA

Whether you run retail stores in DTLA, residential complexes in Malibu or smart homes in the San Fernando Valley, Fabrics addresses a few problems:

  • Oversight: One view instead of logging into a separate controller for each site.
  • Security: Every device and site authenticates, which lowers the risk of breaches and misconfigurations.
  • Cost: No subscription fees, unlike cloud-only options.
  • Requirements: UniFi OS 4.4 or newer and a compatible console such as the Dream Machine Pro Max or Cloud Gateway Fiber.
  • One interface for wired and wireless networks across sites.

A property manager with several apartment buildings in Santa Monica, for example, can push the same firewall rules and WiFi settings to every site. A retail owner with several stores in Beverly Hills can watch network health without juggling apps.

How it works

Fabrics sets up a secure cloud control plane that talks to the UniFi devices at each site.

  • Single login for all sites in UniFi Site Manager.
  • Policy sync: Define a policy once and apply it to every connected site.
  • Real-time monitoring of device status, alerts and network performance.
  • Device management for gateways, switches and access points from one place.
  • On-prem at every site: Each site keeps its own on-prem console, so recording and control stay at the property, while Site Manager gives you one view across sites.

Requirements

  • UniFi OS 4.4 or newer
  • A compatible console, such as the Dream Machine Pro Max or Cloud Gateway Fiber
  • UniFi Site Manager access
  • Devices connected to the internet for the hybrid cloud connection

Existing UniFi installs may need a software update and compatible hardware. For new installs, we plan with Fabrics in mind so adding sites later is simple.

Who benefits

  • Property managers: Networks across several buildings from one dashboard.
  • Small business owners: The same policies at every retail or office location, and uptime monitoring without multiple controllers.
  • Homeowners with multiple properties: One WiFi setup and one login across homes in different neighborhoods.
  • Installers: License-free systems that cut client costs and simplify ongoing service.

Getting started

  1. Check your current UniFi gear for UniFi OS 4.4 or newer and a supported console.
  2. Plan the network around the hybrid cloud model and central management.
  3. Work with an experienced UniFi installer to deploy and configure the sites.
  4. Train your team or property managers on the dashboard.
