Do UniFi cameras record without internet?

Yes. Protect records to the console on site, so recording continues while the internet is down, as long as there is power.

Can I open my gate if the internet is out?

On site, yes. Access readers and exit buttons work locally. Opening it from your phone while away needs internet.

What is the difference between UniFi 5G Backup and 5G Max?

5G Backup uses 5G RedCap with up to 220 Mbps down (5G SA). 5G Max is full 5G with up to 3.4 Gbps down (5G NSA) and a 2.5 GbE port. Both are powered by PoE.

Do I need a UPS if I have backup internet?

Yes for power outages. Backup internet only helps when the internet fails, not when the power does.

Will I get alerts during an outage?

Only if a backup line is up. Without it alerts are sent once the internet returns.
