UniFi Lab 11
NVR drive failure
A UNVR shows a drive warning. Swap one, let it repair.
Your job: replace the bad drive while the UNVR stays on, let storage finish Repairing, and get every bay to Optimal. One drive at a time.
This run: Break A. Bay 2 reads Drive at Risk of Failure. Bays 1, 3, 4 Optimal.
Lab complete. Every bay reads Optimal and protection is restored.

Why this fails
Bay 2: Drive at Risk of Failure
RAID 5 can lose one drive and keep recording. An at-risk drive is a warning to act now. Swap that one drive while the NVR runs, same size or bigger, and let it repair.
Field note
One drive at a time. Repair is heavy work and slows things down until it finishes. A smaller drive will not join. A bigger one works, but the extra space sits unused until every drive is that size.

Takeaway
One drive at a time, storage repairedSwap one drive. Let it repair. Then the next.
RAID 5 can lose one drive and keep recording. An at-risk drive is a warning to act now. Swap that one drive while the NVR runs, same size or bigger, and let it repair.
- Leave the UNVR on. It supports hot swap.
- Failed drive first. Then the at-risk drive.
- Equal or larger drive. A smaller one will not join.
- Wait for Repairing to finish before the next swap.
